All went pretty smoothly for Triple M Melbourne’s Rosie Walton, Wil Anderson, and Dale ‘Daisy’ Thomas and their first show this morning with comedy mates stopping in to check if they’d been paying attention and some AFL news and gossip too.
Melbourne Football Club captain Max Gawn spent an hour with the Triple M Breakfast crew arriving unencumbered and giving an update on his injured ankle.
Daisy: “You’ve strutted in here this morning with no moonboot (for your ankle).”
Gawn: “It’s going well. It’s a hairline fracture in the ankle, but you could just say it’s a badly rolled ankle. In footy these days if you have a rolled ankle, you almost get told you should get up. And so, to have one week out for a rolled ankle is already in my head going, ‘That’s a lot’, I’ve done a fair bit to do it, so the doctors originally said two to three (weeks). If it’s two to three, that’s a win – I want to make sure it’s not four (weeks). It’s day-by-day, I’ll run today, see how I go, and how I get pulled up tomorrow, maybe run again Wednesday if I get picked.”
Daisy: “Is there some concern that you’re not a required player? (laughs)”
Daisy Thomas also fessed up that he’d been to a delayed by covid, big reunion over the weekend of 2010 Collingwood premiership winners.
Wil: “So, tell us was it, was it a big weekend? Do you still party in the same ways as you used to?”
Daisy: “No, we don’t. It was probably more family friendly than a lot of the other celebrations have been, now that a lot of the players have got kids and wives and partners were included. So it was really nice to sit back and reflect.”
Rosie: “Who was there?”
Daisy: “Everybody (from the 2010 premiership) was there except for Héritier Lumumba and Sharrod Wellington; they couldn’t make it across. Chris Dawes flew in from New York, flew in Friday, has flown out this morning… that is a level of commitment. And there’s no surprises when reflect on why we were such a good team because of efforts like that (from Chris Dawes), but we all genuinely love each other’s company. It doesn’t matter who you’re talking to, we have such a good group. We’re very, very lucky.”
Have You Been Paying Attention’s Tom Gleisner and Glenn Robbins (pictured with Rosie, Daisy and Wil) also stopped by ahead of the shows 300th episode which is airing tonight (July 15) at 9pm on 10 and 10 Play. Wil Anderson has been a frequent guest on the show.
Triple M Breakfast with Rosie, Wil and Daisy is on Melbourne’s 105.1 Triple M from 6-9am weekdays and also on LiSTNR.
