Station disrupted after receiving ‘suspicious package’

Hazmat workers were called in to check out a “suspicious package” that came in the mail at radio KXRK (X96)/Salt Lake City.

It all started when a station employee found the suspicious envelope, addressed from out of state, while opening mail.

Inside he found a CD and a business card. However, the card apparently had writing on it that the employee thought “was from a crazy person.” He Googled the name on the card and it purportedly linked to an undisclosed person associated with past ricin (a toxic poison) incidents.

That prompted a call to the police and to a Hazmat crew response and a brief lockdown of the offices. Once everything was cleared, the station returned to normal.
