About the Role

ABC Radio Darwin is seeking a producer who knows how to find a great story and use Radio to share it with an audience.

We’re looking for someone with the tenacity to keep calling until they track down the very best guests, who is creative in how they make stories sound on the radio, and who can engage the audience.

You’ll need good local knowledge, or the capacity to quickly develop it, along with an understanding of what matters to the people of Darwin.

The role will involve:

  • Producing ABC Radio Darwin’s Drive Program on a contract for approximately 7-months.
  • Provide in-studio production support and manage talk-back callers and guests.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Create local content that can be shared with other content teams across the ABC.

About You

We are looking for someone who’s proven they can make a radio show that will reach and keep a broad audience, but also extend that content on digital platforms.

With the experience to hit the ground running, you’ll bring:

  • Excellent program-making skills, with a proven ability to make original and engaging audio and cross-platform content for target audiences.
  • Advanced editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
  • A strong interest in and capacity to break news and produce local current affairs content.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
