Development Manager CMS FM91.1 Radio is a community broadcasting station serving the Multicultural Community of Canberra. It is volunteer-based by the constitution but also employs key professional staff. CMS funding is derived from the community it serves, from individual supporters, organisations, grants and sponsors relevant to the CMS community. Description: The Development Manager is responsible for the business, finance and strategic development of the station. Their focus is on improving operations by developing business and increasing revenue through grants, bequests, fundraising events, and campaigns and mutual collaborations with like-minded businesses and organisations. In addition to this, the Development Officer, will maintain the organisations operational budget and liaise with the Board, Operations & Administration Manager, plus the Technical Consultants on budgetary needs and overall budget tracking. The Development Manager will oversee policy development in consultation with the Board, in addition to any development projects current and future. Specific duties: The Development Manager will assist the CMS Board, staff, program coordinators and volunteers by undertaking a range of duties in terms of priorities and time available – for the full list of duties, see the attached pdf file Selection Criteria: • Experience of working effectively in a volunteer-based community organisation; • Project management skills in a small team and the engagement of staff and volunteers; • Strong networking and people skills, including partner, sponsor and funding organisations; • Experience in grant writing and fundraising; • Sound written, oral and personal communication skills and computer literacy, attention to detail • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively with volunteers with diverse cultural backgrounds; • Tertiary Education in related fields is a significant advantage; • Self-motivated and with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a small team.
