News Director Full Time Hope Media is Sydney’s leading Christian media organisation. We are the parent company of Hope 103.2 on FM, Inspire Digital on DAB+ and Hope Online. Hope Media is about to launch its own unique news service in Sydney. As the newly appointed Hope Media News Director, your extensive professional experience and personal faith values will play an instrumental role in the editorial policies, style and staffing of this brand new service. We are now inviting applications from an experienced radio journalist with a passion to assist in recruiting and leading a team of news professionals. Our News Director will be ready to:  direct the gathering and production of news content on-air and online from a Christian world-view perspective;  prepare and present daily in a key shift;  supervise and oversee training of News Room personnel, including trainees;  lead the use of digital tools to enhance news gathering and dissemination;  ensure the accuracy of news programs;  prepare and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards;  interact with Hope Media Management in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; and  participate in the development and management of annual operating budgets. The successful candidate will possess:  a commitment to and willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values, and the Statement of Faith of Hope Media Ltd;  a Bachelor's degree, with a major in communication or journalism desirable;  at least 10 years of experience in a similar role;  a demonstrated ability to take initiative and complete tasks to a high standard;  the aptitude to supervise and train employees and volunteers, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments;  knowledge of on-air and online techniques/procedures, protocols, and standards;  competency to make broadcast programming decisions within defined parameters;  knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations and protocols relating to the delivery of news and public affairs content, as well as statutory and regulatory obligations that apply to community radio stations;  skill in the use of journalistic research and methods and techniques;  knowledge of editorial and ethical standards for the research and development of journalistic articles and/or presentations;  the proficiency to work under pressure and meet deadlines; and  completed Theological studies; desirable but not essential.
