Journalist- Gold Coast

Come work for us in one of Australia’s most dynamic radio markets…

With the 2018 Commonwealth Games just around the corner, our Gold Coast newsteam is adding two fulltime positions into our daily news mix and we want to hear from radio news journalists who absolutely thrive in a fast-paced environment, producing on-brand news for our HIT and MMM stations.

We will be recruiting two strong on-air performers, who are also savvy, sharp writers with a digital-focus and can prove a serious care-factor for real-speak news that informs and engages.

We are looking for two new team-mates:

News Floater (Grade 2) –  you’ll be able to do every shift on the roster and take pride in being the one the team depends on to cover any absence.   You have demonstrated knowledge on the RCS news system, or similar, and have a versatile on-air news-style.  You’ll also be confident in setting the news agenda for your shift, both in broadcast duties and online.

Journalist/Newsreader (Grade 1) -  this is the perfect entry level position into our Gold Coast team.  You will be responsible for sourcing, producing and reading local news bulletins for our Maryborough and Bundaberg licence areas.   With plenty of experienced heads around you, you’ll get the support and guidance you need to develop your news-nose and find the content that hits our local compliance needs.

Knowledge of RCS would be great, but we’re happy to train you.  Post-grads welcome to apply.

We are seeking motivated, confident applicants, who want to open themselves up to the amazing opportunities joining SCA brings.   And yes, we do need to hear how you sound on the air, so a news-read demo that shows off your FM style is a pre-requisite along with your CV.

Applicants must also possess a Broadcast Journalism degree or other media equivalent.  And don’t forget, in your cover letter, to please indicate which of the roles you are most interested in.

We are recruiting fast, so please submit your applications by COB Tuesday, 3rd October.
