LAFM Current Affairs Producer – Tasmania Talks

Tasmania’s ACRA nominated talk show, Tasmania Talks with Mike O’Loughlin is on the hunt for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Producer.

Reporting to the Content Director and working closely with the show’s host, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day run downs and ongoing projects associated with the program.  As Producer, you’ll oversee and source on-air and social media content to ensure we reach the highest possible audience via all platforms in line with the brand guidelines and values.

About the role:

  • Ensure the broadcast is compliant according to approved policies and guidelines, and is in line with the CRA’s code of conduct and all other legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality audio prep when required to add to the show’s content.
  • Be the quality controller of the show. Make sure that what is being delivered is of the highest level.
  • Ensure the program runs according to schedule and on time for commercial structure and news and information packages.
  • Help develop and drive social content in conjunction with the Tasmania Talks team
  • Help develop content ideas, pitch content ideas and create show arcs with the Tasmania Talks team
  • Undertake editing of interviews and phone calls as necessary.
  • Source potential contributors and interviews.
  • Deliver daily audio highlight content to existing show website and stations the show is broadcast to when required.
  • Answer phones and prep guests for the show presenter to talk to live. 

About you:

  • Have an interest in and be abreast of local, national and international current affairs and news.
  • Be relentless in your pursuit of delivering stories that are of public interest.
  • Capable of using your industry knowledge and contacts to transform your amazing ideas into compelling content.
  • Have a good understanding of social media and streaming platforms.
  • A network or ability to create of network of credible contributors when required.
  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to deal with people at all levels both internally and externally
  • Be an inspirational team player capable of working within a fast paced and highly demanding environment
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • A passion for the media industry
