Jeff Sparrow steps down at 3RRR

 Jeff Sparrow is stepping down from co-hosting Breakfasters after three and a half years on air having decided to spend more time focusing on his writing.

Jeff started with 3RRR out as a contributor to Aural Text in 2010, then going on to host Hullabaloo on Wednesday mornings, before joining Gez & Sarah on Breakfasters in 2015.

His final broadcast will be on Friday 10 May at the Northcote Social Club from 6am to 9am.

That comment from Facebook where the Keynote address at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s conference given by the Rockwiz Producer, was being streamed live.
And delegates in the Plenary Hall at Melbourne's Pullman Hotel would agree.

40 years of 3RRR to be celebrated all through November

Melbourne's Triple R has announced a series of special events, celebrations and projects to mark the station’s 40th birthday.

November Max Headroom Specials

On Thursday at 7pm each week in November an iconic live-to-air performance from each decade of the station’s history will be pulled from the Triple R vaults and presented by current presenters. You’ll have to tune in to hear what performance is chosen to represent each decade

Friday 18 November marks the public launch of ON AIR: 40 years of 3RRR, a 3-month exhibition at the State Library of Victoria celebrating the station’s history. There will be a host of live events and broadcasts on site highlighting different aspects of the exhibition and celebrating this milestone in the station’s history, running until 29 January 2017.

Melbourne's Triple R off air after flood

Melbourne community radio station, Triple R (3RRR 102.7FM) was forced off air last night after it flooded.

A car drove into a fire hydrant in Brunswick in front of the radio station and caused the flood.

Several hours later, Triple R was back on air.

3RRR radiothon paints the town red

3RRR's Radiothon is on throughout most of September offering listeners a chance to be in the running for the prize draw when they support the iconic Melbourne community station.

Triple R relies on sponsorship and listener subscriptions to keep running.

The radiothon is the station’s annual subscription drive that funds over half the station's operations each year.

Glen Morrow wins Radioinfo prize from RMIT

Glen Morrow has won the RMIT Media Prize for Radio, presented by radioInfo for his outstanding academic results in the program.

Bruce Berryman, course co-ordinator for Radio 1 & 2 at RMIT has told radioinfo:

"Glen also won the award for his overall participation in the radio courses. Glen's long experience in community radio was a real asset to the program and to the other members of the cohort.
