7am hits two milestones today

Schwartz Media’s daily news podcast, 7am, today celebrates its one-year anniversary with a new audience listenership milestone.

The podcast now reaches an average of 45,000 listens each day, or almost a quarter of a million listens weekly.

The year-old podcast, hosted by award-winning investigative journalist Ruby Jones, tells the news through in-depth, energetic interviews and sharp analysis, delivered to podcast feeds every weekday morning to help listeners start their day engaged and informed.

Chief executive of Schwartz Media, Rebecca Costello, said: “Every morning for the past 12 months, 7am has published content that showcases some of the best storytelling and news reporting in Australia. We continue to find new audiences for our journalism – this listener milestone shows the appetite for great news in an audio-on-demand format.”

Content Director at Acast, Guy Scott-Wilson, says, “It’s a tough time for many in the media industry, but with further fragmentation, there are opportunities. Our data shows a huge and ever-growing appetite for independent news podcasts in Australia. We’re excited to be working with the team to celebrate this milestone and make sure we continue to grow the podcasting audience in Australia year-on-year.”
