Commercial radio is now broadcasting on DAB+ in Hobart, ith three new DAB+ commercial stations now on air, KIX Country, Easy Hits and Triple M Classic Rock.

Delay system for 7HO

As part of its response to the recent Anna Dare incident, 7HO is planning to install a delay system in its studios.

Contrary to some popular beliefs, it is not mandatory for stations to have delay systems, the regulations require stations to "prevent the broadcast of programs which are unsuitable..." How that is done is up to the station.

Hobart radio survey released

Radio ratings have been released for Hobart, providing up-to-date data on who’s listening to radio in the Tasmanian capital.

The most listened to station is 936ABC Hobart, with 20.8%, followed by Hit 100.9 on 18.2%.

7HO was third most listened to station, with 16.3%, followed by Heart 107.3 on 13.9%.

The 7HO brekkie team – Mick and Jane - wanted to see if the generalisation about a lack of decent men in Hobart was true.
So Mick bet he could find Jane 10 dates in 10 days to prove there were…or he would wax himself all over.
Jane discovered that there were in fact many lovely men in Hobart but Mick fell short of finding 10 men for her to date….so here’s what happened:

Modelled off the TV show Big Brother, 7HO FM in Tasmania is running it's very own 'Little Sister' competition involving female only housemates. This “living in a fishbowl” social experiment started on Friday and before the ladies unpacked there was already an eviction and another housemate, the only Grandmother in the house, walked out at 4am Sunday morning.

There are now just 5 left living in an empty shop at Northgate Shopping Centre Glenorchy. The competition winner will take home $3000 cash.

In 2013 Tasmanian Father and Son team Mick and Matt Newell won over Australian audiences with their efforts on the Channel 7 competitive cooking program My Kitchen Rules.

To viewers, it was no secret that there was no love between Mick Newell and a fellow contestant, Sophia Pou, from Sydney.
