Tamworth Broadcasting Society launches a new country music history podcast series

88.9fm New England Northwest and 96.3fm Liverpool Plains stations, have launched on iHeartRadio a series of podcasts tracing the history of country music in Australia called Up Close & Country.
The station’s news editor Jon Wolfe, a respected and award-winning country music journalist and broadcaster, hosts a series of audio commentaries on the roots and the times that have seen Australian country music evolve for over a century.

Liverpool Plains have access to their first community radio station

Tamworth Broadcasting Society’s (TBS) new high power transmitter on Who’d-A-Thought-It lookout at Quirindi began broadcasting on Monday, 22nd June at 12 noon.

ACMA granted TBS a full broadcast repeater licence covering all of the Liverpool Plains. The Authority said this is one of the most significant licence approvals for community broadcasting in the region since FM broadcast commenced in the 1980’s.

ANZAC Day 2020 marks a new dawn for radio

88.9FM’s joint promotion with Mobil Transwest on the weekend saw residents of the drought affected city get an early Christmas present with fuel for 88.9 cents/litre.
Over 3 hours on Saturday, Mobil and regional fuel suppliers contributed to reduce fuel prices to assist residents going through drought conditions while 88.9FM kept the hundreds of drivers entertained and informed of the traffics process.

An experienced Sales Manager and music talent manager, he has recently moved to Tamworth from Sydney and has previously worked at SONY MUSIC and been in and around radio and media for the past 20 years.
