BarRat & Heidi to the rescue

919 SEA FM’S BarRat & Heidi came to the rescue recently, raising $10,000 for Wildlife Rescue Sunshine Coast in just one week.
In partnership with Suncoast Entertainment Services, they organised a fundraising poker night, along with on air auctions and produced more than the original $7,000 target originally set.
BarRat, says, “ We are truly blown away – to turn this around in one week and get this amount of money is a credit to the sunny coast, thank you sunny coast”.

Rachel McLarnon goes to SEA

919 SEA FM has appointed Rachel McLarnon previously from CFM Darling Downs, NXFM Newcastle and HIT105 Brisbane to the position of Morning Announcer and Digital.

919 Sea FM’s BarRat & Jess have been encouraging their Sunshine Coast listeners to donate toys for needy kids in the lead up to Christmas.

Tomorrow BarRat & Jess, along with Joyce Mayne’s Jason McLachlan, will head to the Children’s Ward at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital to donate hundreds of presents to the kids, spreading the Christmas Cheer.

The Joyce Mayne Toy Run encouraged listeners to donate gifts for the kids at either Joyce Mayne Maroochydore or Sippy Downs.

Clear skies for the Sunshine Coast's Million Dollar Dive

The final of 919 SEA FM Sunshine Coast's Million Dollar Dive was held this morning. 

A perfect Sunshine Coast day and the temperature at a brisk (for Sunshine Coasters) 8 degrees with clear skies, BarRat and Jess along with the rest of the breakfast team broadcast live from 6am to find out if a listener would be lucky enough to take home the million dollars.

After it was postponed thanks to Cyclone Debbie, 919 Sea FM’s BarRat & Jess are finally off on a 12-hour walk from Caloundra, heading north, in order to raise much-needed funds for local 5 year old, Chase.

Chase loves dinosaurs, riding his bike and going for a swim.....and has cerebral palsy. After medical treatments every fortnight for the past 3 years, the goal is for Chase to walk unaided.

Cyclone forces postponement of radio fundraiser

The pair made the decision to postpone a 12-hour walk planned for tomorrow to next Friday, as the after effects of Cyclone Debbie are felt down the Queensland coast.

Eon Broadcasting updates online app with innovative social audio feature

EON Broadcasting's Sunshine Coast stations 92.7 MIX FM and 919 SEA FM have launched the upgrade of their online apps, with the inclusion of an Australian first for radio, with “MIX Mites” and “SEA Bites” using the social audio network “Soundmite.”

Both MIX Mites and SEA Bites will mean the audience can create 21 second audio “BiTES” and text from the embedded custom channel inside their station App.

Lost Baggs turns up on the Sunshine Coast

919 SEA FM Sunshine Coast Breakfast Team, BarRat & Jess, have a few iconic moments coming up. Jess is about to give birth to child number two and BarRat is finally getting a two week holiday.

So filling in for two weeks BarRat’s mate Simon Baggs, Ex KIIS Sydney, Melbourne and Nova 93.7, will be working the room each morning with Jess.

Baggs  resigned from KIIS 101.1 in July to head off and  see the world.

Radio tinder "swipes" into marriage

919 Sea FM’s BarRat and Jess saw Tinder’s use exploding, so they turned it into a radio segment, that one and a half years later, saw Kristy marry Kurt at a surprise wedding.

Kurt called 919 Sea FM in August 2014. On-hold were three ladies waiting to see which way he would “swipe”. Who knew.... he was blown away by the first caller ‘Kristy’, so with no need to keep looking (or listening in our radio version), BarRat and Jess sent the couple off to The Creek Tavern for a date.
