ABC Radio Darwin and NAIDOC Week celebrate Indigenous women

‘Because of her, we can.’

The theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week – ‘Because of her we can’ – celebrates the contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made at all levels of Australian life – community, local, state and national.

Across NAIDOC Week ABC Radio Darwin’s Drive program will feature interviews with key female Indigenous leaders about the women who’ve influenced their careers and lives.

ABC Radio Darwin will also feature a series of interviews on the proposed Treaty announced at the Barunga Festival earlier this year.

Radio National’s Awaye! program will feature a series of NAIDOC specials both audio and video that celebrate and feature Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have inspired, including Essendon footballer Courtney Ugle, and former journalist and federal politician Senator Malarndirri McCarthy.
