The 'Ring of Steel' around Melbourne will be lifted this weekend, with Melburnians once again allowed to leave the capital city to visit regional Victoria.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said regional Victorians want the visitors back as corona virus cases diminish.

Celebrating 90 years of radio in Gippsland

The first radio station in the Gippsland region of Victoria is now 90 years old and is still dominating radio listening east of Melbourne.  Now two separate stations, TRFM and Gippsland's Gold began life as 3TR on 29 September 1930.

The roots of 3TR go back even further, when the Trafalgar Radio Club was tinkering with low power broadcasts as an experimental station in 1929, operated by Frank Berkery, and known as 3FB

ACE Radio reveals predominantly female 3MP lineup

ACE radio’s 3MP have announced a lineup almost exclusively of women for the Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula’s station.

Julie Strini will join Jon Vertigan for breakfast, to be followed by a weekday lineup of Emily Canning 9-3, Cathy Jubb 3pm – 9pm and Emma Clark 9pm -  1am.

Two significant sales have been announced this morning, with 2CH and 1377AM Melbourne changing hands.
Pacific Star Network has signed an agreement to acquire all the shares in EON 2CH Pty Ltd with the sale to be completed by July 1, telling shareholders that the cash consideration payable for 2CH and Licences would be approximately $11.2 million, excluding GST.

AFTRS students launch 2NRS on iHeartRadio

AFTRS Graduate Diploma Radio students today launched 2NRS on iHeart Radio, a commercial pop-up radio station broadcasting the hottest hits from today with a rewind to favourite tracks of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.
2NRS celebrates First Nation, Australian and international artists and will be live from 7am – 6pm daily for the next two weeks, the broadcast can be heard via the website and the iHeart Radio app.

Ace Radio makes some cuts as COVID19 cuts deep into revenue

Like most regional broadcasters, Ace Radio is struggling with the effects of COVID-19.
With direct revenue down anywhere from 40%-50%, the management team has had to make some tough decisions on staffing levels with some positions in the sales team, admin and production being made redundant.
CEO, Mark Taylor, told radioinfo, “Being a family orientated network always makes these decisions difficult, but we have tried where possible to keep as many people employed as possible.
