Andrew Rochford to leave Mix breakfast for TEN

Andrew Rochford has been lured away from Mix 106.5 to television and will leave the breakfast show at the end of 2011 to join Channel Ten’s new breakfast program. Rochford and co-host Claire Hooper have been heavily promoted by Mix using the slogan The Brighter Side of Breakfast.

ARN’s National Content Director Duncan Campbell wished Andrew all the best with his new TV venture in 2012 and says the station is now actively looking for Andrew’s replacement:

“Finding someone who has great chemistry with Claire and can wake Sydney-siders up with a laugh and engaging chat will be paramount.

“After a lot of research and rebuilding, we are very confident that we have the Mix 106.5 format right and as a result we have had significant share and cumulative audience growth versus last year (+40% share & +33% cume). The Mix offer extends beyond a single presenter and is a combination of the music, the breakfast show, promotions and our personalities.”

Rochford says the Mix breakfast show has been “an amazing opportunity,” but the tv offer was “too good to refuse.”

“I would like to thank everyone over at Mix – they are a great team and really determined to drive the Mix brand forward; a brand I am very proud to have been associated with.”

Rochford is the only personality so far confirmed for the new show, to be called Breakfast. The new program was announced this week with a range of other programming news from Network Ten. The rest of the tv breakfast show team have not yet been announced. The show will run from 6am to 9am weekdays beginning in 2012.
