919 Sea FM’s BarRat & Jess have been encouraging their Sunshine Coast listeners to donate toys for needy kids in the lead up to Christmas.

Tomorrow BarRat & Jess, along with Joyce Mayne’s Jason McLachlan, will head to the Children’s Ward at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital to donate hundreds of presents to the kids, spreading the Christmas Cheer.

The Joyce Mayne Toy Run encouraged listeners to donate gifts for the kids at either Joyce Mayne Maroochydore or Sippy Downs.

Next Friday 919 Sea FM’s BarRat & Jess will walk 12 hours straight from Caloundra, heading north, in order to raise much-needed funds for local 5 year old, Chase.

Chase loves dinosaurs, riding his bike and going for a swim...and has cerebral palsy. After medical treatments every fortnight for the past 3 years, the goal is for Chase to walk unaided.

919 Sea FM’s BarRat & Jess with Jacqui attempted to create a Sunshine Coast record for the most people on paddleboards with their pets.

In conjunction with Ocean Addicts, BarRat & Jacqui invited local paddle board animal loving enthusiasts to meet at Cotton Tree Park where they headed out on the water and paddle around with their pets.

919 SEA FM Sunshine Coast Breakfast Team, BarRat & Jess, have a few iconic moments coming up. Jess is about to give birth to child number two and BarRat is finally getting a two week holiday.

So filling in for two weeks BarRat’s mate Simon Baggs, Ex KIIS Sydney, Melbourne and Nova 93.7, will be working the room each morning with Jess.

Baggs  resigned from KIIS 101.1 in July to head off and  see the world.

Radio tinder "swipes" into marriage

919 Sea FM’s BarRat and Jess saw Tinder’s use exploding, so they turned it into a radio segment, that one and a half years later, saw Kristy marry Kurt at a surprise wedding.

Kurt called 919 Sea FM in August 2014. On-hold were three ladies waiting to see which way he would “swipe”. Who knew.... he was blown away by the first caller ‘Kristy’, so with no need to keep looking (or listening in our radio version), BarRat and Jess sent the couple off to The Creek Tavern for a date.

919 Sea FM brings the sunshine coast together for a transformation

919 SEA FM’s BarRat and Jess brought together the Sunshine Coast to transform the backyard of local listener Emma. Emma is just 25 and has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, given just months to live.

BarRat and Jess were so moved by Emma’s story, that they decided to create a tropical resort for her – transforming her backyard into a tranquil retreat.

‘Big Brother’ wakes up the sunshine coast

The voice of Big Brother, Mike Goldman will join 919 SEA FM’s Jess Eva on-air from Monday 6th of July to fill in for BarRat while he is away on parental leave, and is really looking forward to getting back on-air.

“Radio is my first love, it’s in my veins and although it will be early mornings, I can’t wait to work with Jess and entertain the Sunshine Coast each morning! I hear that winter on the Sunshine Coast is glorious and I look forward to exploring this beautiful location each afternoon,” said Mike.

BarRat and Jess' Million Dollar Dig

James Logan from Cooroy isn’t a millionaire but is now $10,000 richer and able to afford a house deposit for his family, after digging up the consolation money bag at BarRat & Jess’s Million Dollar Dig this morning.

James’ lucky number 26 didn’t get him the million bucks but still made him $10K richer as he dug up 1 of the 99 buried bags which contained the consolation cash.

The Million dollars was in grid 61.
