Chris Winter broke new ground for Australian media

Chris Winter had an instinctive sense of what an audience would want and spent countless hours learning as much as possible about using emerging technologies to best deliver it.

He recorded a pilot of the program that was to become Room To Move with Ted Robinson in 1971, the success of which, and its wildly eclectic playlist, eventually led to a collaboration with Marius Webb to use an AM frequency made available by the Whitlam government in 1974 for a dedicated ABC rock music station, Double J.
