Christopher Pyne joins FIVEaa

Liberal frontbencher Christopher Pyne has quit his regular spot on the ABC 891 breakfast show and will instead appear regularly on rival station FIVEaa.

Mr Pyne was absent from his regular Wednesday morning spot this week, alongside Labor MP Mark Butler.

South Australia’s local newspaper The Advertiser understands Mr Pyne advised the ABC of his plans on Tuesday and told the station that there was no ill feeling and he simply wanted to try something new after 12 years of regular appearances on 891.

FIVEaa is planning a different format with Mr Pyne, who will go head to head against NSW Labor MP Anthony Albanese.

“I believe that FIVEaa listeners will enjoy the opportunity to both interact and engage with two of Australia’s most influential Federal Members of Parliament in Christopher Pyne and Anthony Albanese. With the launch of the stations new breakfast program last week, our presenters David Penberthy and Will Goodings are very quickly establishing the program as the most relevant and connected Breakfast program in the Adelaide market,” says FIVEaa Content Director Craig Munn.
