At the Radio Alive conference today, Tim Burrows hosted a panel of CEOs, who tackled a number of hot topics in the radio industry in their ‘fireside chat.’

Tim’s first question was about brave moves that the CEO have made, and whether they worked or not.

Adam Lang: “Every day in talk radio requires bravery… usually things work really well, that friendship of live talk radio. But sometimes we push it too hard. 99% of our broadcast minutes we can be proud of, but there are a few we can’t.”

Hedley Thomas talks about the making of Teachers Pet #RadioAlive2019

“I was always troubled that her death had never gone before a court. I felt a reinvestigation could deliver justice,” Teachers Pet podcast producer Hedley Thomas told today’s Radio Alive conference.

“I didn’t have a budget for voice actors so I pulled in people from everywhere, my wife, a friend from golf…” Hedley Thomas told Ben Fordham in a Q & A about how the award winning podcast was made.

Australian radio partners with Google #RadioAlive2019

CRA has made a third announcement at the opening of this year's Radio Alive conference, revealing a new partnership with Google to make it simple and easy for listeners to find and listen to live streams of local Australian radio stations on Google Nest devices.

The partnership between industry body Commercial Radio Australia and Google will make more than 300 Australian AM, FM and DAB+ digital radio stations easily accessible on Google Nest devices, including Nest Home, Nest Mini, Nest Max and Nest Hub Max via voice command.

Podcasts overtake music, radio stays on top in 2019 Share of Audio study #RadioAlive2019

Australians are spending seven minutes more time every day listening to audio entertainment than last year, with radio staying dominant and podcasts overtaking owned music for the first time, according to the fourth annual GfK Share of Audio study just released at the Radio Alive conference.

In a typical day, consumers spend three hours and 28 minutes listening to audio, seven minutes more than last year.

The radio industry is converging on Brisbane for this Friday's Radio Alive conference and Saturday night's ACRAs.

It's the big industry event and of course radioinfo will be there to cover it.

Our advance team, Peter and Wendy are already in sunny Brisbane and report that there may be some showers tomorrow for anyone arriving the day before, but that Friday will be sunny. Hot days between 28 - 31 degrees are expected.

Topical meet up discusses regulation #RDAsia19

One innovative highlight of the first Radio Days Asia conference was the ' Topical Meet-ups'.

The inaugural Radiodays Asia conference took place this week in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Across the two days the sessions were data driven with excellent research analysis while also highlighting how radio & podcasting are intertwined from a listener perspective.
