Dave Thornton let management know a month ago and his co-hosts Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Byron Cooke just last week that he was quitting the Melbourne team that he’d been a part of for the past four years.

Finalists and host announced for Siren Awards best radio ad of 2017

The best radio ad of 2017 will be battled out between 10 of Australia’s leading agencies and production studios from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth as part of the national Siren Awards, which will be announced next month.

Last year’s Gold Siren was won by Melbourne agency Clemenger BBDO for the Maltesers ad titled “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” created by Elle Bullen and James Orr.  The Melbourne agency dominated the round wins this year and is credited with 11 of the 30 finalist nominations.

Fifi Box weighs in on the refugee crisis

A different tone for the Fifi & Dave show on FoxFM this morning as Fifi Box addressed the issues at Nauru and the 10,000 people that rallied at Treasury Gardens in Melbourne last night.


“We need to talk about Nauru, we all need to talk about Nauru,” Box declared.

“I think we use words like refugee, we distance ourselves with words like that, with detention centres. We tend to politicise all of this we leave it for the politicians they’ll deal with it”

Dave Thornton announces engagement

hit101.9 Fox FM’s breakfast host Dave Thornton revealed his engagement to his girlfriend Nixi, on air earlier this week.

“I’ve got a little bit of news for you,” he said to co-hosts Fifi and Dan “I’ve been engaged since the mid-year break.”

Thornton told his co-hosts that he kept the engagement under wraps so that his family and friends could all know before the public.

Em Rusciano's letter to herself

Radio and television presenter Em Rusciano has shared a letter on her Facebook page she wrote to herself after quitting Perth's 92.9's breakfast show.

Rusciano left Western Australia and moved to Melbourne to host the national radio show Mamamia Today with Dave Thornton which was axed after just eight months on-air.

In a video entitled Who is the New 2Day-FM Breakfast Team? that was quietly posted on the 2Day facebook page Sunday night, a number of faces are prominently featured – most of whom have long been mooted as the likely line-up in 2014 to replace Kyle and Jackie O who are moving to MIX ... er KIIS.
