Dean Buchanan features on game changers: Radio

Dean Buchanan spent the early part of his career both on and off the air in his native New Zealand. 

He then joined international research and consultancy group BPR in Sydney, Australia in the late the 1990s.

After two years in the consultancy business, he became Head of Programming at DMG, where he launched the Nova Network in 2000. Nova went to #1 in Melbourne in it’s first survey, and within two years dominated the 18-39 landscape in all metro markets. 

Dean hired on-air talent like Merrick and Rosso, Hughsey and Kate, Fitzy and WippaTim Blackwell, as well as Ash Bradnam and Nathan and Nat. Many of these stars are still with the group today.

Dean is now Group Director – Entertainment NZME, where he overseas the companies radio, digital and print entertainment content strategy.
