Fox FM and Triple M Unite and Raise $2 million for Bush Fire Victims

It was $2,008,665 to be exact as for the very first time, Fox FM’s Matt & Jo and Hamish & Andy joined forces with Triple M’s Pete & Myf to present The Fox and Triple M’s Bush Fire Appeal to raise funds for the Red Cross State Government Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund.

It all happened from 6 am this morning (Tuesday). Kicking off in Melbourne, Triple M’s Pete and Myf joined up with Fox FM’s Matt and Jo and Hamish and Andy to do a joint broadcast.

Then from 10am, Triple M became a national station with celebrity guests dropping by and musical acts like The Living End and Pete Murray coming in to help raise awareness.

From 4pm, in a radio first the entire Today Network joined in to broadcast Hamish and Andy nationally on both the Today Network and Triple M Network. Guests included Triple M’s HG who encouraged the boys to lose their clothes to raise money and do a nudie run around the building.

Austereo’s Melbourne General Manager, Ben Amarfio said, “The devastation of the horrific bushfires across Victoria last weekend has touched us all. Like many other wonderful corporate and community organisations, we want to do whatever we can to help out. This unprecedented dual breakfast broadcast is our way of bringing Triple M and Fox FM together to raise much-needed funds for the people who have been affected and hardest hit by this enormous tragedy.”
