Triple M talks most in Melbourne commercial FM content comparison

Last week we compared Sydney’s KiiS, NOVA and 2Day’s breakfast programs for advertising, song and entertainment content.
This time, with the help of our marquee sponsor, AirCheck™ we’ve analysed five Melbourne FM music stations, Triple M, FOX, GOLD, MIX and NOVA.

Once again, we’ve taken a snapshot of last Friday’s breakfast shows between 7 and 9 am.
 And once again, Nova was the music champ with six songs in each hour between 7 – 8 and 7 -9. Mix played five per hour.

Fifi & Dave drop $100,000 in 5 minutes

Fifi & Dave from the Fox Fm breakfast programhave celebrated their first ever OB by dropping loads of cash in Fifi & Dave’s $100,000 Catch competition.

 More than 60 on-air finalists turned up at Melbourne’s Gosch’s Paddock for the chance to win a share of $100,000 cash – but to keep it they had to catch it!

 After whittling the finalists down to a lucky three, Fifi & Dave went up in cherry pickers and threw fistfuls of replica notes into the game zone.

Fox FM breakfast duo Fifi Box and Dave Thornton, along with funny man Hamish Blake danced for their lives on this mornings show for the approval of new So You Think You Can Dance host Carrie Bickmore.

In a dazzling display of talent, Fifi, Dave and Hamish each busted a move on the Fox FM rooftop in the hope of being crowned the best dancer. 

Fifi becomes Warnie’s PA

Fifi Box is an ambassador for The Shane Warne Foundation which raises money for sick and underprivileged children.

After confessing she’d “do anything” for Warnie off-air, co-host Dave Thornton set up a chat with the Spin King and encouraged Fifi on-air to become his personal assistant.

This morning on Fox, Fifi and Dave played a demanding voicemail from her new boss, with a list of tasks she wasn’t expecting. Hear it below:


Manu stitches up Fifi

It all started when My Kitchen Rules star Manu Fidel just happened to catch a ball hit into the crowd at the Australian Open tennis.

Next thing you know, Manu was being interviewed by Fifi and Dave on Fox Fm breakfast - when Fifi decided it would be a good idea to see if Manu could catch a tennis ball thrown unexpectedly at him during the interview. Turns out he couldn't - and the ball hit him in the face.

That night Manu posted a pic on Facebook of the black eye that Fifi had given him.

Fifi leaves Dave in charge of the new show

A second promotion for the new Fox FM Melbourne breakfast show Fifi and Dave has shown that sometimes it's best to leave the recruiting up to the station managers.

According to Fifi, the duo were on the hunt to find a new junior producer, but when Fifi leaves Dave in charge of the recruitment process, he decides to test the eagerness of applicants.

Spontaneity is the theme of the promo, telling listeners to prepare for the unprepared.
