GfK scores NZ survey contract

New Zealand’s commercial radio industry body the Radio Broadcasters Association has contracted GfK for its surveys starting 2016.
 
The announcement comes 6 months after RBA announced it would cease industry surveys while it browsed the market for companies that would provide enhanced surveying methods.
 
The GfK contract signals the end of RBA’s long term affiliation with TNS, the company that had provided them with survey data since 1991.
 

CRA calls tenders for regional radio surveys

Commercial Radio Australia has called for tenders for a single regional radio survey provider from 2016, and is also seeking interest from software providers to create a Gold Standard to take regional radio surveys into the next phase of development.
 
The survey tender relates to markets outside of the five capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and the major regional cites of the Gold Coast, Canberra and Newcastle, which are covered by the current GfK Audience Measurement Survey contract.
 

New GfK AudienScope insights show radio is batting above the average

GfK’s latest AudienScope report shows that Australian radio audiences have grown by 7% in the last five years, 19% of people are listening to more radio now than they were a year ago and driving while listening to live radio is the top multi-tasking activity.

Two years ago Australian advertising agencies were crying out for change in the way the radio industry measured its audience. Electronic tv ratings were available, but, back then, radio was still using only paper diaries.

GfK’s AudienScope insights; a national online survey of radio behaviour, have provided an additional perspective to the Australian radio ratings.
 
Launched in May 2014, this is the second instalment for this behavioural study which is an ongoing part of the radio audience measurement contract, and a new initiative from GfK.  While the radio ratings provide data on “who” is listening to “what”, AudienScope looks at the reasons “why” by delving deeper into listening behaviour.
