Guy Dobson appointed Chief Content Officer at SCA

Southern Cross Austereo  has announced the appointment of Guy Dobson to the newly created role of Chief Content Officer for the whole company.

Dobson will drive the “creation of original content for one of Australia’s most successful and diverse media brands.” Effectively immediately, he will transition from his current role as Head of Metro Radio to oversee the production of innovative content for the company’s diverse portfolio of assets including metropolitan, regional and digital radio, television, social media and online.

He also takes the helm for existing and new international projects.

Dobson has a distinguished media career and brings immense experience to the role having been an integral part of the Australian radio industry in excess of 25 years.  His career roles have spanned from on-air jock to CEO of Austereo before the company merger with Southern Cross in 2011, and he is now a leader in generating cross platform content.

Craig Bruce remains Head of Content, for Metro and Regional Radio and Ben Parsons the Head of TV, for Southern Cross Austereo nationally.

Dobbo thinks the role Director of Metro Radio “was the ideal transition role during the merge.  18 months on, the company in full swing and the time has come to a pursue path that enables me to further grow with the business.  I’m also very happy to ditch the suits and wear t-shirts again.”

Southern Cross Austereo CEO Rhys Holleran says: “Guy Dobson is an integral part of our business and this new role consolidates his imperative influence on our overall outcomes.  He is a force in the media industry and our growing business continues to benefit from his expertise.  This announcement further highlights the possibilities that come from combining two successful media companies.”
