KIIS101.1’s Buddhism for Breakups book launch

KIIS101.1’s Meshel Laurie last night officially launched her latest book Buddhism for Breakups in front of a 100-strong crowd of listeners, media and VIPs at The Cullen Hotel in Windsor.

Melbourne’s iconic energy was on show with a celebration of culture and spiritualism as guests such as Offspring actors Alicia Gardiner and Jane Harber (pictured), and high profile television and radio identities like ARN’s GOLD 104.3 Breakfast Co-host Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann and comedian Tommy Little, toasted the occasion.

Throughout January KIIS101.1 Matt & Meshel listeners had the chance to win tickets to the event to help celebrate the book’s release, as well as enjoy a fun-filled night of great food, drinks and entertainment with some of their favourite radio stars.

Meshel, a practicing Buddhist, and Australia’s official ambassador for the Dalai Lama, welcomed last night’s guests with a reading of one of the book chapters which detailed her former marriage and the relationship dynamics through an anecdote of a hair salon visit.

Encouraged by her on air co-host Matt Tilley on-stage, Meshel conducted a Q&A about the principles of Buddhism and how to apply them during the ending of intimate, family or friendly relationships.

The host who makes up half of the Matt & Meshel breakfast program from 6am weekdays on KIIS was inspired to write the memoir after her nineteen-year marriage ended in 2015 and she couldn’t find any Buddhist texts to guide her through the process.

Meshel said: “I had such a great night celebrating with our listeners and close friends at last night’s launch. I’m just so happy to be able to share the teachings I am so passionate about and apply them to situations that we all go through in life.”

Buddhism for Breakups is on sale at all good book shops across Australia. RRP: $29.99
