MediaWorks New Zealand CEO Cam Wallace has told staff that John Banks will never get another job with the company while he is CEO.

Mediaworks Chief executive Michael Anderson has announced that he will leave the company at the end of this year.

The New Zealand Herald is reporting that MediaWorks has slumped to a $25 million loss.

MediaWorks has revealed the look of its new Magic Talk station, and announced that  Peter Williams is return to radio on the newly formatted station.
 
The station will carry talk and lifestyle content aimed at an over 45 audience.

New Zealand's MediaWorks will merge two stations next year, combining RadioLIVE with the Magic network to form a new network called Magic Talk.

In an email to staff, CEO Michael Anderson (pictured) said the merged station would offer both music and talk radio.

"The merged entity will operate a music station and a talk station, and the talk station will be run by the music radio side of our business."

The South Canterbury based Port FM is set to merge with MediaWorks from 01 April 2018.

“2018 is set to be an exciting year for MediaWorks radio,” according to Leon Wratt, Group Content Director - Music at MediaWorks Radio.

“From January 15, 2018, Polly & Grant’s breakfast show will be extending beyond More FM Wellington and Kapiti into four additional regions: Waikato, Rotorua, Whanganui and More FM will broadcast on two frequencies in Dunedin, giving listeners the option to tune in to Si & Gary on 97.4FM or Polly & Grant on 100.6FM.”

After failing to come to an agreement with Oaktree Capital Management for MediaWorks’ radio assets, SCA has walked away from its New Zealand ambitions, according to reports in The AFR.

Simon Barnett has announced he will be retiring from breakfast and music radio at the end of next year.

Simon has been with MORE FM since 1997 as part of the Breakfast Show.

"After 20 years as Breakfast host I have decided not to renew my contract with More FM and MediaWorks. I am contracted until the end of 2018 and over the remaining 18 months, I will give it my absolute all.

MediaWorks has appointed newly established WeThinkMedia as its advertising representation agency in Australia.

WeThinkMedia is founded by media executive Peter Wiltshire, former Chief Revenue Officer and Group Sales and Marketing Director at Nine Entertainment and previously GSM at Southern Cross Radio and Television.

Joining Peter and running the MediaWorks business is Jane Stucci, a senior media sales executive, who spent 15 years with SCA.
