Mix 102.3 account manager Ali Oetjen named new Bachelorette

Adelaide breakfast duo Jodie & Soda this morning chatted to Mix 102.3 co-worker and newly announced Bachelorette, Ali Oetjen.

‘You’re meant to be at work today!’ said Soda. ‘Ali the Bachelorette! It just blew us away when we found out last night.’

‘How much leave does she have up her sleeve? Her situation must be dire from an HR point of view,’ said Soda.

Oetjen – who has been named Australia’s fourth Bachelorette – first appeared in the Bachelor franchise during Tim Robards season in 2013, where she was remembered for attempting to kiss Robards on the first night at the cocktail party, and for breaking her leg in spectacular fashion jumping off a boat.

Oetjen spoke to the Mix 102.3 co-hosts spoke about her more recent stint on Bachelor in Paradise, and her engagement and subsequent break-up with Grant Kemp.

Jodie & Soda later surprised Oetjen by having her boss Roger on the phone, and they joked about Ali taking time off work to film The Bachelorette.

Oetjen has had interviews with Kyle & Jackie O and Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Byron since the announcement, some which have been described as ‘awkward’, with media outlets suggesting the new Bachelorette may be out of practice with live radio.

“I have had my heart broken,” Oetjen said, “but I’ve picked myself up and I’m ready to put my heart on the line again. I’m absolutely thrilled to start this new adventure.’
