Jones has an effect on Survey 3 in Canberra

The Jones effect on 2CC has been minimal but positive in the latest GFK Canberra Survey with the station gaining 1.5 overall and 0.5 in breakfast.

Alan Jones replaced Tim Shaw in mid July and the Ray Hadley Morning Show was extended to run from 9am to midday.

Most gains on 2CC have been in the 55+ demographics and the biggest gain during the day was in mornings, up 3.9 to 9.0.

Commercial radio in Canberra goes digital

  The Edge Digital – urban R&BCommercial radio will officially switch on DAB+ digital radio broadcasts in Canberra tomorrow providing digital quality sound and more station choice for listeners in the capital.
All four commercial radio stations, 2CA, 2CC, Mix 106.3 and Hit 104.7 will broadcast in digital, alongside several commercial digital-only stations, with more new stations to launch in coming months.

Fundraising for Give Me 5 for Kids this morning Mix 106.3's Kristen & Rod broadcast their show suspended 100 metres in the air under a Geocon Construction crane high above Canberra until they hit their target of $30,000 to come down.

At 9am they had smashed that amount with $50,200.00 donated and they're still counting.
Funds raised go to help sick kids in the Canberra Hospital.

Since 2013 MIX 106.3 and Nine Canberra have raised well over $500,000 for Give Me 5 for Kids and the Canberra Hospital.

Courtney Davies swaps from Hit to Mix in Canberra

Courtney Davies will step up into the role of Drive Announcer on Mix 106.3 Canberra

Canberra FM Content Director Jason Matthews has told radioinfo:

"Courts has been outstanding on Hit mornings and I can’t wait for her to step across to Mix 106.3 drive. No doubt Courts will take her energetic vibe and fresh sound to Mix."

The change means that there is a role on Hit 104.7 to fill.

Survey 3 in Canberra a tie

Survey 3 results for Canberra have been released this morning and snap...

Hit 104.7 and Mix 106.3 are equal number one All People 10+ with a 15.9 share.

ABC 666 was third with 14.5%.

Worth noting is 2CC's -2.5% from a 7.6 share to 5.1.

It was tight in Breakfast with Mix 106.3 lifting 2.1% to take number FM commercial with 14%. Hit 104.7 narrowly behind on 13.5%.

Overall the ABC was the big winner in that day part with a 20.6 share.

A change of career for Nigel Johnson

Mix 106.3's Drive Show host Nigel Johnson has resigned.
After almost 19 years working in various roles at Hit104.7 and sister station Mix 106.3, Nigel has decided it’s time for a career change and has accepted a role at  ACT ESA (Emergency Services Agency) in the Media and Communications Team.
Nigel took on the Drive shift at Mix 106.3 in February after many years as part of Canberra’s Hit104.7 Breakfast show.

ABC666 tops Canberra survey 3

ABC Radio's local Canberra station 666 has topped the national capital's ratings this survey.

ABC666 rose 1.0 share points to score 17.4% overall.

FM104.7 was second on 17.0% after a dip of 0.3 share points.

Third placed Mix 106.3 suffered a 1.7 share point fall to 15.1%, followed by ABC Classic FM, which had the largest rise of the survey, gaining 1.7 share points to 9.9%.

Fifth place was shared by two ABC stations, youth network triple j, which had the biggest fall of the survey, losing 1.9 share points to score 8.1%, and Radio National, up 0.5 to 8.1%.

Kristen Henry returns to Mix 106.3 in Canberra

Former Canberra FM News Director and Radio Personality Kristen Henry will return to MIX 106.3’s new breakfast show in January 2014.

Kristen was part of the MIX 106.3 breakfast show up until 2012 when she departed to take up a co-hosting role at KOFM in Newcastle alongside Steve Graham, where they took the drive-time ratings to new heights in 2013.
