NINE Network suffers cyber-attack but radio unaffected

NINE has confirmed that a cyber-attack affected its television network which was unable to broadcast Weekend Today on Sunday morning. 

While NINE was able to get the NRL to air, 9News, Sydney did not go to air at 6pm viewers were advised that their bulletin was coming out of the Melbourne Studios, with the Melbourne Weekend NEWS reader Alicia Loxley.

Google and Facebook will have to pay for Australian news content

The ACCC has been ordered by the Morrison Government to develop a mandatory code of conduct to govern commercial dealings between tech giants and news media companies.
The code would require platforms like Facebook and Google to pay news media businesses for the content they produce.

According to The Australian, any offer from the Nine Network will be delayed until and if Alan Jones signs a new contract to take him past June 30.

Fairfax shareholders have voted for the Nine/Fairfax merger to go ahead.

Fairfax shareholders will vote on the merger with the Nine Network just prior to the company’s AGM in November.
The Scheme papers have now been sent out to eligible shareholders outlining the proposed merger.
If the Scheme is approved and implemented, eligible shareholders will receive 0.3627 new Nine Shares in addition to $0.025 in cash for each Fairfax Share held.

Macquarie Media:Full Year Results up by 24%

Macquarie Media has released its annual results with growth in Net Profit After Tax of $21.5 million up $4.2 million, or 24% on last year.

As reported last week on radioinfo, Fairfax Media, currently in merger talks with the Nine Network, is a major shareholder with 54% of shares, but Macquarie Media controls the daily operations of the company.

Nine bails out of it’s stake in SCA
