96FM finds competition winner 34 years later

Last week, 96FM  received a piece of mail that had been lost with Australia Posfor the last 34 YEARS, resulting in a country-wide search for the sender dubbed #FindRobyn.
It was a 1983 competition entry form - a milk carton cut-out, for a “Brownes Dairy Choc Rock Contest” on 96FM where the winner won “a complete set of the Top 96 Albums” of all time.

Digital radio brings ICC Cricket to listeners

Starting today, owners of digital radios will be able to listen to ABC Grandstand's live coverage of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

The competition is held every four years and brings together the top eight Men’s teams in the ICC one-day rankings for a series of highly competitive matches.

All games will be broadcast live on DAB+ digital radio station ABC Extra and the ABC Radio App.

Top 10 brands advertising in radio and television

With State of Origin Game 1 tonight, AirCheck has compared the Top 10 Brands in New South Wales and Queensland.

Harvey Norman was the Top Brand in New South Wales in the last 7 days with 2,395 instances, and it came second in Queensland.

National Tiles took out the top spot in Queensland with 826 instances.

Cardiff Toyota was the eighth top brand in NSW despite airing all 312 spots only on Newcastle stations.

Derryn Hinch in favour of government media reform bill

As 25 senior executives from television, radio and press converge on Canberra today in hopes of ensuring the government's media reform bill passes, Senator Derryn Hinch says he too is in favour of changes.

Senator Hinch supports scrapping the two-out-of-three rule which prevents control of a single market.

As a former radio journalist, it's no surprise he agrees with the media industry's argument that changes must be made to the outdated media laws.

Newcastle University student, Rachel Storer is the winner of the inaugural Brian White Scholarship awarded by Commercial Radio Australia
In her final year of study and part of the student news team at the university radio station, Rachel said: "I'm very excited to be the recipient of the Brian White Scholarship. I'm looking forward to making the most of this opportunity and gaining firsthand experience within the radio news industry."

This week in the AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart, Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson’s hit ‘Symphony’ was up 90 spins to enter the Top 10 during its fifth week on air. Sydney-based Singer/Songwriter Dean Lewis also moved up the chart with ‘Waves’ jumping 6 places to No.18. 
‘Something Just Like This’ from The Chainsmokers and Coldplay enjoyed a third week at the top of the chart while Harry Styles’ debut ‘Sign Of The Times’ remained at No.7.
