Hot Tomato’s Simon Baggs can remember his first shift on community radio, vividly, and it did not go exactly to plan.

1029 Hot Tomato’s drive team of Moyra, Mal & Baggs have come up with a unique way of using the Gold Coast Airport’s almost deserted runway.
 
The station will stage a concert with local group Sheppard , in an exclusive and live performance broadcast on 1029 Hot Tomato and streamed via Facebook Live on the airport and radio station’s social media channels, this Friday from 4.30pm.

Just a week after announcing that he was leaving Hit106.9 in Newcastle, Simon Baggs has been revealed as the new drive co-host on 1029 Hot Tomato.
 
He will join Moyra Major and Mal Lees on the Gold Coast, replacing Galey who is moving to Breakfast.
 
Simon says he is thrilled to be returning home to the Gold Coast, where he’ll be closer to his parents and extended family.
 

After three years of waking up Newcastle, Hit106.9 Breakfast Announcer Simon Baggs will be departing the show Nick, Jess & Simon at the end of 2019. 
 
Simon arrived in Newcastle as a fill-in jock nearly three years ago and in that time, he became a permanent member of the line up at the start of 2018.

Aussie radio announcer Simon Baggs has been travelling for months and has ended up in the USA.

He would love to get a green card and work there for a while.

We know all this because he has revealed it in his latest podcast.

Baggs has launched a podcast with Astra, the drive host on NEW 92.3 New York.

Currently based in LA, Baggs does the podcast using skype to connect with his co-host in NY.

919 SEA FM Sunshine Coast Breakfast Team, BarRat & Jess, have a few iconic moments coming up. Jess is about to give birth to child number two and BarRat is finally getting a two week holiday.

So filling in for two weeks BarRat’s mate Simon Baggs, Ex KIIS Sydney, Melbourne and Nova 93.7, will be working the room each morning with Jess.

Baggs  resigned from KIIS 101.1 in July to head off and  see the world.
