Trevor Crook gets a new sports role at SCA

SCA has promoted Trevor Crook to the newly created role of Head of Sport and Partnerships.
This team will work closely with the national sales team on the ongoing innovation, monetisation and execution for brands across a wide variety of commercial assets.

Spotify adds PodcastOne's catalogue

The entire PodcastOne catalogue will be available through Spotify in a deal that will create new cross-promotional opportunities.

While the exposure of Aussie content on Spotify will create more openings for distribution, the deal will add some notable US titles such as The Adam Carolla Show and other PodcastOne stars that include Shaquille O’Neal and Steve Austin.

Grant Blackley named 2019’s CEO of the Year

Southern Cross Austereo CEO, Grant Blackley, has been named 2019’s CEO of the Year in the peer voted Mediaweek Awards.
Mediaweek Editor, James Manning, said it was a challenging year for all media CEOs but readers voted for Mr Blackley as CEO of the Year due to his success managing SCA across three main platforms – radio, with Australia’s biggest radio network, plus a regional TV network with affiliations to the Nine, Seven and Ten networks and digital.

SCA appoints new Chief Content Officer: Dave Cameron

After an extensive local and global search search, Dave Cameron has been appointed Chief Content Officer for Southern Cross Austereo.
Cameron, who has worked with SCA for 25 years, is currently SCA Melbourne General Manager, and in his new role he will be responsible for overseeing and delivering strategic leadership and creative excellence for SCA’s key content initiatives across its 78 FM stations, 10 DAB+ radio stations, extended digital and associated on-demand content.

Ryan Rathbone joins Grant Broadcasters

Grant Broadcasters has appointed Ryan Rathbone as the new Regional Content Director for Queensland and The Northern Territory.

Ryan is returning home after 5 years in New Zealand working for Mediaworks as a Talent Coach and The National Content Director for The Edge Network.

This year he was also recognized by the industry winning Content Director Of The Year Award at the New Zealand Radio Awards.

Nova makes staff cuts as tough times begin to take a toll

More cuts to radio networks have come to light with Nova cutting around 15 staff as it faces tough economic conditions.
With SCA expected to release up to 90 staff there will soon be over 100 radio professionals looking for new positions.
A NOVA Entertainment spokesperson told radioinfo, “We are operating in a tough economic environment and media companies, like many others, have been impacted. 

SCA refinances debt facilities through to January 2023

Southern Cross Media Group Limited (ASX: SXL) has successfully negotiated the refinancing of its syndicated debt facility for a further three years.

SCA advised shareholders today that 
The new facilities will comprise a 3-year revolving $435m facility and a 1 year revolving $25 million facility and will be used to repay the existing drawn debt of $325m and provide financial flexibility to support the business going forward.
