SYN launches from its Podcast Incubator

SYN will release four original podcasts as the culmination of its Podcast Incubator, a mentoring and professional development program for five emerging producers all under the age of 26.

Campus Radio booming and on air at Murdoch

Murdoch University’s Campus Radio course has returned to community radio airwaves for another year, with over forty students taking part, the largest cohort of students participating in the unit yet. 

Running from April 22nd to 31st May, the student-operated radio station is conducting a grand total of ten shows across the week, from 3pm to 5pm.

The SYN radio team are reshaping the sound of SYN in the coming weeks, with a multitude of voice clips for 90.7FM and their digital channel, SYN Nation.
“We want to reflect SYN’s enormous character with funny and charming voice promos, and develop a really professional sound for SYN,” said Scarlett Maloney, SYN FM Manager.

Young people moving from radio to online to find new music

US research company Edison Research has found that young people are now using the internet more than radio to find new music.

Edison Research's latest study began by dividing the US population into nearly equal parts using typical demographic groups. 

Millennials, are defined as those between 13 and 34, are one-third of the population. The 35-54 group is also one-third, and the 55+ age group is one-third as well.

Trainers from SYN will be holding a training weekend at Brophy in Timor Street Warrnambool this Saturday and Sunday from 11 til 4 both days.

The weekend is coordinated by the Waveform Media project helping find the next generation of radio and media stars, a collaboration of 3WAY-FM SYN Media and Brophy Family & Youth Services.

New studios spur new programing for SYN

Youth-run community broadcaster SYN has launched two new radio programming grids, now broadcasting from their new studios in Melbourne’s CBD.
SYN’s new radio studios on RMIT University’s City campus are now operating for pre-production, training and live broadcasting on SYN’s two radio stations – SYN 90.7 on FM and SYN Nation on DAB+.
