SYN 90.7 to lose youthful GM

Bryce Ives, the 22 year old General Manager of Melbourne student and youth radio station SYN FM has resigned his post and will take up a role as Online Producer for the ABC’s Heywire youth initiative.

Ives has told radioinfo: “This has been a difficult decision to make, but the time has come for me to move on …

“In my opinion the groundwork is all set in place and the timing is perfect for someone new and fresh to lead SYN. For five years SYN has been my life and I am incredibly proud of the organisation and what it has achieved.”

During his time at the helm of SYN, Ives has played a leading role at that station as well as in the wider commuity radio sector as a board member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA).

Ives is responsible for the multi-media approach to content creation on SYN and has been one of the community radio sector’s thought leaders on the topic of convergence.

During last year’s CBAA conference session on digital media, Ives waved his mobile phone around and told the audience, ”this is all the media I need,” explaining the new ways that people are consuming media (see radioinfo’s earlier article by clicking below).

The position of SYN General Manager will soon be advertised.
