Transmission changes for 6PR and other Perth stations

ACMA is proposing to make a new FM translator frequency available to 6PR Perth and to allow minor transmission changes for three community stations and 6IX.

The 6PR translator will improve reception in Carabooda and Rockingham within the Perth licence area. The change for 6PR involves making a new FM frequency available for two translators for AM infill in the southern and northern urban outskirts of the licence area. The proposal is contained in a draft variation to the Perth radio licence area plan released for comment this week.

ACMA Chairman Chris Chapman says the changes come as a result of requests from licensees for improvement of facilities and reception.

Other proposals include:

* the relocation of transmitter site for community radio station 6NME

* updating the site information for commercial radio station 6PER

* a change to antenna height for community radio stations 6SON and 6RTR

* a change to the polarisation of commercial radio station 6IX translator service.

Comment must reach ACMA by 26 March 2009. Full details of the tech specifications for the changes are at the link below.
