Judith Whelan joins ABC Radio

Sydney Morning Herald editor Judith Whelan, has been appointed ABC Radio's Head of Spoken Content, to oversee its talk networks and programs.

Judith will provide editorial and creative direction to meet the overall strategic goals of ABC Radio and the wider corporation. 

As Head of Spoken Content, Whelan will be responsible for ABC Radio’s flagship programs within the Capital City radio network, Grandstand and the ideas network RN. 

The appointment as Head of Spoken Content completes ABC Radio’s executive restructure.

After another epic year of searching for Australia’s best High School music act, Triple j has announced Gretta Ray from Melbourne’s Princes Hill Secondary College as 2016’s Unearthed High winner.

One of the toughest assignments for any brand targeting youth is staying relevant to the core market as they grow older.

Take a radio station that starts off targeting 18-24s. It’s the narrowest of demographics to begin with, yet, has the greatest propensity for change. Imagine the changes that can occur in an individual from the age of 18 to 24. At 18 they earn the right to drink, vote, drive without Ps and, for all intents and purposes, they are adults with all the privileges but few responsibilities.

Kuren wins triple j Unearthed NIMA competition

18 year old producer Kuren is the 2016 winner of the triple j Unearthed National Indigenous Music Awards competition.
 
Kuren, aka Curtis Kennedy, of the Wiradjuri people, grew up in the 1500-strong town of Hillston in regional NSW, before moving to Sydney to work on his music.
