triple j's 'Christmas Number 1' charity success

In December last year, triple j teamed up with some of Australia's best musical talent and the Red Cross to release a Christmas charity single, ‘Christmas Number 1’. For a brief moment the song sat at #1 on the Australian iTunes chart, but more importantly the song has officially raised $19,477.83 for the Red Cross.

triple j breakfast hosts Matt and Alex got the ultimate payback when they played the perfect prank on Kyran Wheatley, host of Weekend Breakfast.

Two Saturdays ago, Kyran woke up Alex Dyson live on air to gloat about Alex’s favourite AFL team getting flogged. As a result, Operation Buttered Toast was launched.

triple j has announced Kristy Lee Peters, aka KLP, as the new host of triple j’s House Party.
 
KLP came to triple j's attention in 2013 when she uploaded her debut song to triple j Unearthed. It impressed them so much she won the Unearthed Field Day competition in January earlier this year. Since then the Sydney DJ, producer and vocalist has worked with an impressive list of producers, including What So Not (Flume and Emoh Instead) and DCUP.

Triple j's new Mix Up Exclusives format

After five and a half years of sound tracking Saturday nights, Nina Las Vegas will be stepping back from hosting triple j’s House Party in order to concentrate on an expanded role on Mix Up Exclusives.
 
After a short break to travel to some of the world’s biggest music events, including Coachella and the Miami Winter Music Conference, Nina will return to host an hour of cutting edge electronic music, before presenting three exclusive sets from producers around the globe, each Saturday night from June 7.

triple j’s One Night Stand heads to Mildura

On Saturday 17 May triple j is taking Illy, RÜFÜS, Dan Sultan, Violent Soho and The Jungle Giants to the regional town of Mildura. Set on the Murray River, Mildra is known for its houseboats and water sports, and is now the 2014 home of triple j’s One Night Stand.

This year is the 11th of the One Night Stand concert series, where triple j takes the country’s best musicians to small towns around Australia for the biggest party of the year. 

On Saturday 17 May, it happens again. This year triple j will be joined by Illy, RÜFÜS, Dan Sultan, Violent Soho and The Jungle Giants.

 The lucky town that will host the show will be announced by Matt & Alex on triple j breakfast this Thursday, March 13.

Triple j’s Hottest 100 facts and figures

triple j has released some details about the Hottest 100 countdown that’s now in it’s 21st year. It is on today.

This year 1,492,619 votes were cast by 173,658 music fans in 169 countries around the world, from Argentina to Estonia to our own backyard.

4200 Hottest 100 parties are already registered to be held on Australia Day.

42 songs are from artists appearing in the Hottest 100 countdown for the first time.

From Saturday morning right through to Monday night, the station is delivering the voters favourite songs in one of the most celebrated Australia Day traditions.

New triple j announcer learns the ropes

'The longer you've been here, the higher shelf you get in the fridge. I'm up there with the cheese, you're in the vegetable crisper...'

This week, triple j's new breakfast presenter Matt Okine is learning the ropes from co-host and more experienced ABC youth network staffer Alex Dyson.

So far he has learnt about the fridge pecking order from Zan Rowe and has been grilled by Hack current affairs presenter Tom Tilley.
