Triple M attracted criticism last month when the network announced plans to hold an Australian music countdown - 'Ozzfest 100' - on Australia Day, following triple j's decision to move the Hottest 100 to January 27 after a poll revealed 60 per cent of its listeners were in favour of moving the iconic countdown to a different date.

Triple M derided Triple J's decision in a statement at the time which said, "so, the taxpayer funded FM has decided that there'll be no soundtrack for Australia Day".

The marsupial hopping along the Bridge surprised motorists this morning. 

In 2020, the new three-year partnership with QRU will see the station acknowledged as a 30-year sponsor.

In a marketing move that has variously bemused and outraged observers, Triple M has mounted an Australian music countdown on Friday January 26th, the day vacated by triple j's Hottest 100.

The Hottest 100 will now be held the following day, Saturday January 27.

But anyone wanting an Aussie soundtrack on Australia Day itself might choose Triple M's countdown of classic Australian hits.

In an email to subscribers, Triple M said:

This morning, Olympic swimmer Libby Trickett took on Luke Bradnam and Dobbo in the great Triple M Brisbane Drive Show Swim Off at the Valley Pool.

Luke Bradnam backed himself as a decent swimmer before entering the race… however, he said that the only way he was ever going to beat Olympic Champion and Queensland golden girl, Libby Trickett, is when she’s in her third trimester of pregnancy...

Which she is.

Fiercely competitive Libby gave it her best shot, but Luke was all serious.

The country star joins the Triple M regional network in 2018 from the Australia Day long weekend.

 Tom and Olly will return to the Triple M network in 2018 with their nightly show.

The former 2NM News Director and Morning announcer has joined the Triple M regional network. 

Presenters at SCA's Triple M and Hit stations in Toowoomba will be broadcasting from alternative locations after asbestos was discovered in their building. 

"We will be on air from different locations, but we continue to run the business as usual... morale is high," General Manager Zac Manscawen has told radioinfo.

Manscawen says the station's building at 100 Margaret Street was undergoing routine repairs when the asbestos was found.

 It's been suggested naming at least one track should be part of the Aussie Citizenship Test.
