As a young and ambitious radio announcer you must learn to handle a lot of things - rejection being one of them. 

It was a lesson that WSFM's Brendan Jones (of Amanda and Jonesy fame) learned the hard way. If nothing else he was given plenty of practice being rejected, time and time again, in his search for an opening in radio. Kids, do try this at home if you're trying to break into radio. Persistence is the key!

WSFM denies it failed to tribute Bowie at news of his death

Some radioinfo readers contacted us to report that WSFM and other Pure GOLD stations had failed to pay tribute to David Bowie on Monday evening, soon after his death was reported. 

They insisted that voice-tracking had prevented the stations from breaking into pre-recorded programming to pay the rock legend due respect.

WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda celebrated their Summer Beach Party with a bunch of lucky listeners over the weekend at the brand new Bannisters Pavilion at Mollymook.
The event was also WSFM’s celebration of the launch of Amanda’s new book Natural Born Keller – with many of the guests spotted enjoying the great summer read while relaxing by the pool over the weekend.

Richard Mercer is taking a breaking after joining Mix 106.5 in July 1997 as the new night time presenter.  Love Song Dedications was born soon after and went on to become ARN’s longest running program - building a loyal fan base thanks to Richard’s unique interviewing style, which always made for compelling listening.  A guilty pleasure for many, the show ran for 17 successful years, winding up in December 2013.

Natural Born Keller; My Life and Other Palaver is published by Allen & Unwin and released today lifting the lid on life on-screen and off with not so longing looks back at growing up in the burbs in the decade taste forgot.

In a promotion for KISS fans, that could have sat equally well on sister station KIIS, WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda have been on the hunt for Sydney’s longest tongue.

KISS band member, Gene Simmons at some point during his career had his signature tongue insured for a million dollars.

So, Jonesy and Amanda put out the call to find the person with Sydney’s longest tongue.

ARN and The Project search for new talent

ARN and Roving Enterprises have again teamed up to offer everyday Aussies a chance to guest co-host Channel Ten's The Project.

Following the success of last year's Your Chair competition, the nation-wide talent search is on again.  The Project hosts Carrie Bickmore, Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar have a spare seat at the desk, and looking forward to seeing who is going to join them to share opinions and talk about the topics of the day.

Jonesy, Amanda & Shannon Noll lend a helping hand

WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda have unveiled a brand new advertising campaign they created with the help of  ARIA award winner, Shannon Noll,  for a listener’s landscaping business as part of their regular In a Jam segment.
WSFM listener Lauren contacted Jonesy & Amanda to see if they could help out her friends Claire and Ben.
The couple have a 1-year-old daughter, Emily, who requires full time care following complications during her birth which left her with a brain injury.

It’s well-documented that WSFM’s Amanda Keller has a love for Barry Manilow.

She has loved him since she was a teenager, when posters of Barry covered her bedroom walls. Young Amanda’s diary entries were filled with fantasies of marrying Barry, wearing matching knitted sweaters and snuggling on the couch together.
