97.3 Coast FM Support Peel Homelessness Awareness Day

97.3 Coast FM has once again succeeded in filling the ‘Coast Cat’ with as many non-perishable food goods as possible for the Peel Community Kitchen. In fact, the ‘Coast Cat’ van was filled twice.

With the community rallying together for Mandurah Homelessness Awareness Day to raise awareness and support for people suffering from homelessness or poverty in the Peel Region; Coast FM wanted to do more to help than simply promote the event. The call was put out for listeners to bring non-perishable food donations to the station so that Coast FM could once again fill the ‘Coast Cat’ for people in need.

Child Care Centres, Country Towns, Small Businesses and people from all walks of life brought boxes of donations to the station, filling the reception area and eventually spilling into the Sales Managers office.

Coast FM broadcasted live from the Peel Homelessness Awareness Day, August 11th where free hot meals, hygiene packs, towels, clothes, shoes, books and support information were handed out to people without a home or suffering financial difficulty.

The Peel Community Kitchen aims to establish a permanent and sustainable drop-in centre for homeless, socially isolated and financially disadvantaged people in the Peel Region.
