ABC Radio has announced the finalists for the 2011 ABC Local Radio Awards. 230 entries were received for this year’s awards, which were judged in various rounds including peer assessment, industry guests and a national judging panel. Winners will be announced in Sydney on Thursday 15 September at a ceremony hosted by ABC Local Radio Presenter Richard Stubbs. A full list of finalists is below.
Director of ABC Radio Kate Dundas says this year’s entries are of an exceptionally high standard, showcasing the depth of talent across the Local Radio network. The diversity and quality of entries made it a hard task for the judges to decide on a final shortlist.
“The level of entries into the Local Radio Awards seems to get higher with each year. The selected finalists are representative of the creativity and strength of talent amongst the content makers of ABC Local Radio. Thank you to all who entered the awards this year and the best of luck to the finalists on the night.“
Finalists travelling to Sydney will also participate in a Local Radio Forum held over two days, looking at developments in broadcasting and inspiration for program making.
Established in 2001, the ABC Local Radio Awards recognise and celebrate the talent and dedication of ABC Local Radio staff who deliver entertaining radio and engaging cross-media content to local communities around Australia.
Open to content makers from the nine metropolitan and 51 regional ABC Local Radio stations across the country, the categories recognise both individual and station excellence in broadcast and online content.
