ABC nabs 14 at New York International Radio Awards

The ABC picked up three gold, five silver, two bronze and four finalist certificates at the 2010 International Radio Programming & Promotion Awards held in New York over the weekend.

Triple M’s Sideshow Mike Andersen picked up a bronze for Nirvana Live at Reading, while 2UE, earned a finalist certificate for its News/Documentary, “Obama – The Inauguration of a President.”

The New York Festivals Awards have been around for 53 years, recognising The World’s Best Work® in radio broadcasting.

Each year they receive entries from radio stations, networks and independent producers from over 30 countries. International radio experts from stations and companies donate their time to the judging process.

The GrandJury® is comprised of top level industry professionals from 5 continents and over 25 countries, including three from Australia and four from New Zealand.

The ABC’s Gold Awards were won for:

Brian and Norm – a love story in the Human Relations category.

Afghan Hospital – Abdul’s Story; Best Human Interest Story

Shutting Down Sharleen  in the History category.
