ABC Southbank will open to the public for Open House Melbourne

As part of Open House Melbourne weekend of Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 July, ABC Southbank Centre will be among over 200 significant commercial and civic buildings, private homes, infrastructure and landscape projects to open for the public, demonstrating some of Melbourne’s most progressive historical, contemporary and future-facing ideas in architecture and city-making.

Buildings include The Capital Theatre, Australian Islamic Centre, Carlton Court House, Hawthorn Tram Depot, Myer Mural Hall, State Gymnastic Centre, Victorian Archives Centre and Willsmere.

Visitors to the ABC Southbank Centre will see live radio in action, the control rooms, studios and the sets used by ABC News, Q & A, Mad as Hell and ABC Kid’s Me TV.

There’ll be displays and attractions for all ages, including a VR experience for kids, and a chance to bump into some familiar faces, or put a face to the voice you hear on ABC Radio.
