Ali Moore fills in as Jon Faine takes extended leave

ABC Lateline Business host Ali Moore will replace ABC774’s Jon Faine on the top rating Melbourne morning show for the rest of the year while Jon Faine takes long service leave to go travelling with his son.

Faine is planning to drive from Melbourne to London, and is reporting his journey on a website (click the link below) and for ABC774. This week he arrived in Darwin and has put his car on a ship for the next leg of the journey.

Ali Moore began her career as a journalist over 20 years ago at 3LO (now 774 ABC Melbourne), after completing a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne University. In 1992, following 6 years with the radio news and current affairs team, she went to Beijing as the ABC’s China Correspondent.

In 1996 Moore moved to Channel Nine, where she spent a decade reporting and subsequently hosting the highly regarded weekly business current affairs program Business Sunday. She returned to the ABC in 2006 to host the new Lateline Business program.

Ali Moore regularly fills in for Kerry O’Brien on the 7.30 Report and is known to 774 listeners having completed regular stints presenting both Drive and Mornings over the past 12 months.

She is currently living in Sydney, but says she plans one day to return to Melbourne. Her fill in gig for Faine is thought to be a try out for possible future ABC774 shifts.

Moore has told The Age:

“I’ve spent the past 12 years doing business journalism, so I’m keen to get back into that broader arena. That’s not to say I know everything, there are a lot of topics on which I don’t have the breadth of knowledge that Jon has, so I’m hoping the listeners are going to help me out. And if I get something wrong, I’m sure they’ll ring and say, ‘You got that wrong!’ “
