Another ushered out

Adelaide’s Hit107 has parted ways with afternoon journalist Mel Usher amid news last week The Hit Network will roll out a new streamlined news service weekdays, from 4pm-6pm across all metro markets.

Emma Freedman has been appointed as National Drive News Presenter, replacing Geoff Field in Sydney and news readers in other capitals.

Freedman’s role on the Hit Network will be delivering national news inside the Hamish and Andy show and through other show appearances, including The Scoopla Show, which she co-hosts with Jules Lund.

Further news shifts in other SCA capital cities will also been cut, with Freedman set to be heard in place of local bulletins.

Dave Cameron Head of the Hit Network has confirmed “it will be a national news service inside a national Drive show”.

Meantime major rival Nova Entertainment have been busy spruiking their investment in news.

Their smoothfm line up of Glenn Daniel, Jen Hansen, Ron Wilson was recently bolstered by the addition of the heavily acclaimed Steve Blanda.

Both Nova Entertainment and ARN stations can expect a flood of casuals knocking on their door.
