Bay FM Winner proves to be the ultimate footy fanatic

How far would you go to win tickets to the AFL Grand Final?

Victoria has gone Tigers-mad after the black-and-yellow made it through to the big one for the first time in 35 years, taking that question to a whole new level.

For Tigers fan Kelly Herbert the answer was obvious: get a Tigers tattoo with the words “Premiers 2017” – three days before the game.

Kelly, from Drysdale, was happy to answer the call when radio station Bay 93.9 began its search for Geelong’s biggest footy fanatic.

The station appears to have found what it was searching for when Kelly put her money where her mouth is – or in this case, her ankle – in a bid to win the most coveted of prizes, a double pass to the Richmond-Adelaide Grand Final.

The life-long Tigers fan, is also the great grand-daughter of Richmond’s Barney Herbert, dual Premiership player and President of the club. Born with passion in her blood, Kelly took to the table at Geelong tattoo shop Wise Monkey, who coincidentally are also Tigers tragics. After a little hesitation, some ums and ahs and a horrified “it’s bigger than I thought it would be,” Kelly gritted her teeth and allowed the Wise Monkey team to get to work.

Kelly is now hoping desperately for a Tigers premiership. How does that old song go? ‘Regrets, I’ve had a few…’ Time will tell.

However the tattoo looks great and Kelly is all smiles. “I’m going to see Richmond in a Grand Final so it’s definitely worth it!”

Bay 93.9 certainly found Geelong’s biggest footy fanatic.
