This Sunday night, 34 of Macquarie Regional Radioworks (MRRW) ‘Local Works’ stream stations will play Jeff Wayne’s 1978 masterpiece, “War Of The Worlds”, in its entirety.
Wayne – who was responsible for the hits, “Eve Of The War” and “Forever Autumn”, which were lifted from the original soundtrack – also produced albums for David Essex and others in the ’70s,
Gold FM Gold Coast Assistant Program Director, Kieron Atkinson, is excited about this Sunday: “With the new movie only days from opening and the re-release of Jeff Wayne’s original musical version of the classic HG Wells story, we thought it was timely to replay this awesome rendering of the tale on the radio again.”
MRRW Group Program Director, Rod Brice, has equal anticipation: “We believe it’s the first time an entire Australian Radio network has played this production in it’s entirety since 1979 after it was first released!”
He also says a 7 disc collectors edition of the new digitally re-mastered War Of The Worlds will be given away on Sunday Night prior to the broadcast.
Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds will be replayed across most of the network’s “Localworks” six state coverage area on Sunday night at 9pm, and in Western Australia from 7pm.
