Byron Cooke heads up new national music show

Hit AU is a brand new, all Australian, music show starting this Sunday night across the Hit Network, hosted by Byron Cooke.

Hit AU will air every Sunday night at 10pm and will be the Hit Network’s home for hot Australian music – new and old school – and the go-to show for discovering upcoming Australian artists.

A different co-host will join Byron each week, giving listeners the chance to get to know Australian music personalities a little better and share their passion for artists and their music on-air and via social media. Hit AU’s FANSNAP is an ingenious weekly segment that will let fans ask artists questions directly via Snapchat.

Byron Cooke, anchor on Fox FM’s Fifi & Dave breakfast show, is a bona fide music fan who is passionate about supporting new and upcoming acts. He says “to know I’ll be able to give artists their first commercial radio airplay across the country is a massive honour for me and I know just how huge it will be for these artists as well”.

Byron has worked on air at some of the world’s most influential radio stations, including Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles and XFM in London. Next month he will MC the Worldwide Radio Summit in Hollywood – a gathering of hundreds of international radio and music executives discussing creative interaction, understanding, networking and commercial interests within a global market.

Honorary Australian, Joel Madden, (Madden Bros and Good Charlotte) is thrilled with the support his newly signed Australian band Chase Atlantic will receive on Hit AU, noting “Byron and I have known each other a long time. Any time you support a new artist and give them a chance by playing their music on the radio you’re paying it forward. This is the kind of stuff dreams are made of – kids start bands and then hear their song on the radio”.

Samantha Jade will join Byron as co-host this Sunday night for Hit AU’s first show. Melbourne based pop-rock group, Masketta Fall, will be first up for FANSNAP.
