Capital Radio UK presenter Greg Burns joins Nova 96.9

Greg Burns, one of the United Kingdom’s best known and most accomplished broadcasters, will join Nova 96.9 in mornings from July 2016.

Burns currently hosts the number one Drive show for Capital FM in London. With an average audience of over 800,000, Burns has spent the last nine years with Capital. Previously he was a presenter on London’s Heart FM and Virgin Radio from 1998 to 2007.

The risky move to appoint a Brit to a prime time shift in Australia’s biggest radio market is not a worry to Nova’s Group PD.

Paul Jackson, NOVA Entertainment’s Group Programme Director said: “Greg is one of the outstanding talents in the UK radio industry. I’m thrilled that he is joining the Nova team. His passion for music, his infectious humour and love for Sydney will instantly endear him to our listeners.”

An award winning comedian, Burns has extensive stand-up and TV experience having appeared on numerous comedy shows on the BBC and ITV including The Office Christmas Special. He has also hosted the Summertime Ball from Wembley Stadium and the Jingle Bell Ball from O2 Arena.

Greg Burns fell in love with Australia years ago after visiting many times to perform at Comedy Festivals. “Coming to work at Nova is my dream scenario, I can’t believe it’s actually happening. My nightmare scenario is it isn’t happening, and arrive to find it’s a Fitzy & Wippa stitch up, they got in too deep and couldn’t turn back,” says Burns.

Burns will be heard on Nova 96.9 in mornings, from 9am to 1pm, from July 2016. See some of Burn’s stand up comedy work here.

He will be replaced on Capital FM by Will Manning.

Nova’s new presenter is not the former 2UE News Editor of the same name (but different spelling).
